A Little About Albany Park
Albany Park, formally known as Community Area 14, is a historical area located in North Central Chicago. It contains four neighborhoods, including:
- Albany Park
- Mayfair
- North Mayfair
- Ravenswood Manor
More than anything else, Albany Park is known as an incredibly diverse community area. Specifically, it has one of the highest percentages of foreign-born residents and citizens, while over 40 known languages are spoken in Albany Park public schools.
One of the most vibrant areas in Albany Park is Lawrence Avenue, between Kedzie and Pulaski. Known as Koreatown in the 1980s, this area is still an epicenter and focal point for Korean culture. Specifically, it features an annual Korean festival, as well as a Korean radio station and two Korean newspapers.
