Logan Square, formally known as Community Area 22, is a historical neighborhood located in Northwest Chicago. The area is comprised of Logan Square, Bucktown, Palmer Square, Belmont Gardens, and Kosciusko Park. The entirety of the community is named after the Logan Square public square, which is located between Milwaukee Avenue, Logan Boulevard, and Kedzie Boulevard.
Moreover, Logan Square was named after John Logan, a Union general during the Civil War. Today, Logan Square features a large and centrally located greenspace, as well as a monument that – erected in 1918 – celebrates 100 years of Illinois statehood with historical imagery and symbolism.
